Detachable Towbar

Hi PJW,
Welcome to the forum. I have the same towbar as you have ordered and there is no problem hitching up to an Alko hitch / stabiliser. Have you ordered a thirtteen pin socket or twin 12S / 12N sockets?
When you have connected up the electrics you will be pleased to know there is a dashboard indicator to inform you your indicators and lights are working correctly.
One thing to watch out for is that your parking sensors are still working after they fit your tow bar / electrics. Mine had to go back in for a software update after installing the towbar. So mention this to your dealer so you don't have to go back again at a later date.
Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Will you be towing a caravan?

According to the Caravan Club, from September 2008, all new caravans are likely to be fitted with the 13 pin plug. Thus doing away with the two 7 pin plugs.

If you are likely in the future to be towing a new caravan from that date, you may prefer to have the 13 pin socket on the LR now, and use an adaptor in the meantime.

Grimbo and Eddie thanks for replying so quickly this forum is a must for Freelander 2 users. I am having twin electrics fitted as i have just taken delivery of a new Bailey Senator Indiana series 6 and my better half says I have spend too much of the retirement fund already!! Embarassed
I will keep an eye on the parking sensors, thanks for that. I am hoping they use the LR electrics and don't farm the job out to a "specialist". Do LR dealers have to use Geniune LR parts?
Its great to know that the removable one will fit the Al-KO. will phone Dealer ( Hunters of Bristol) tomorrow to make sure of Land Rover Electrics Etc. Pity the bumper has to be removed lets hope I can trust them to put it back in one piece.

Thanks Guys
