England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Lago Grey

Just been told mine is ready for collection, apparently had a new transfer box, clutch and flywheel. Shocked

I do hope this has fixed the vibration...

Wales 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Got my FL2 back from Stratstone Stoke.
New clutch and DMF fitted plus they re-gassed the air-con. Car has done 26k.
All done under warrenty without any quibble. Courtesy car provided. No hassle at all.
Done 50 miles today on the way home since picking up my car and no problems.

So, well done to Stratstone of Stoke. I'm give 'em a mention on dealer feedback. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Well I thaught my car was fixed, well peed off the car won't go into 6th gear to say I am not happy is an understatement and when I go into Hatfields Liverpool tomorrow there getting told a few home truths. Got the car back yesterday and only took it on the motorway tonight and it wouldn't go into sixth gear...absolutely fuming here wish the dealers was open now... Evil or Very Mad

Dear all

I have also the same problem on my recently bought MY09 td4 auto
There is a big vibration noise when accelerating in 4th/5th and 6th gear between 1700 and 2100 rpm
The noise is clearly coming from the rear of the car
I can also feel some vibrations through the seat or the wheel

The car is to be analysed through an expert at the end of July but the local LR dealer announced that this should be due to the rear Haldex diff

Any other suggestions ?
Could it be due to the transmission arm ? Flywheel ? Gearbox ?

Did you have any joy with the vibration issue Blinche? Mine is doing it and dealer doesn't know what it is.

Hello afairbrass

Yes and no.. In fact I don't have the car anymore. The car dealer took it back and gave back the money
It took 6 months... An expert analyzed the car, the local dealer also, and both claimed that the rear Haldex diff was the cause of the noise and needed to be replaced... About 2500€...
But as the dealer took back the car it was not repaired and I can not confirm that it was the real problem

In fact since then I bought a discovery 4 sdv6 hse from 2012, and I am very pleased with the car

But the most surprising thing is that I recently tried another freelander 2 td4 from 2011 and 50.000km
It was before I decided to buy a disco
You bet ? I could reproduce exactly the same noise as mine ?!?
That decided me not to buy another freelander and to buy a disco

Thanks Blinche. Very useful to know. No idea what I'm going to do. My concern is that if I tell the dealer to replace the rear Haldex diff and it doesn't fix the problem then I'm down 2k with no solution Confused Might look into part ex with a dealer....may be for a disco Wink

Thanks again

Germany 2008 LR2 TD4 SE Auto Indus Silver

Hi Freely-Friends.

First, please excuse my poor English.
I'm searching for a solution for the vibration problem in my Freelander 2 / 2008 / 160 TKM / Automatic.
Form reading here I see that there are some people having (nearly) the same problem.

On my car the vibrations are on a small band from 1600-1850 rpm only in the higher gears 4-6 when accelerating with a light or medium strength. So mostly when I drive about 80 km/h an try to keep the speed or accelerate moderate.

I have already replaced the prop shaft and the mounts of the engine. This had the result that the symptoms became a bit better but the reason is still there. I went to a lot specialists telling me a lot different things form this is normal to you have to change the gearbox.

Since the vibration comes form the front, it might come from the torque converter or from the power transfer unit.
Perhaps you have a hint for me how I can analyse where the vibrations are coming from.
Perhaps someone has solved a similar issue.

Thanks a lot for your time and help

Hi there are many many posts on this very annoying vibration problem take a look at all my posts and you will see I’ve replaced many things and still not got to the bottom of the problem . I’m pretty convinced now that it is the front diff bearing gone bad that is the bearing in which the passenger side driveshaft slots into so if you grab hold of the complete cv assembly where it enters the diff and you can wobble the whole thing up and down with lots of play then you have same as me too much play . Take a look and let me know Tim
