United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Izmir Blue

Picked up car from dealer yesterday, they acknowledge that there is a problem but have been unable to find the cause. They are going to have another go when the car goes in for a service in a couple of weeks. So the problem still not resolved. Remember there are never problems, just new challenges

It sounds like a resonating plastic part on a metal surface. Off Road major rule:As slowly as possible, as fast as necessary!

No it is not a resonance, this is a thuming sound and the car vibrates as if you were driving over rumble strips. As soon as you back off with the accerlerator pedal it stops. It starts at 2000 rpm and then has gone by 2500 rpm. It usually occurs when accellerating up an incline in 5th gear but if you really push hard on the flat you can also get it . If you change down so you are above 2500 revs it goes. Under normal driving everything is fine. Confused Remember there are never problems, just new challenges

Tell them to check the engine rubber mounts.
Also to check the injectors' trimming/balance and to set it again if they can/know how/are able to...

Exactly same as mine. Has anyone get an accident before especially from left front corner? Because I have done before. They changed the bumper, bonnet, left headlamps, fog lamps etc. and left front wing ?Last day I checked the plastic parts under the bonnet,I found a broken Fuse box leg.İt is almost free and hasn't connection with the box. İt is completely alone itself;)) I think they forget to change the fuse box or they didn't see it.I post you a photo later, but it doesn't produce like a bad sound. Off Road major rule:As slowly as possible, as fast as necessary!

Hi - I had EXACTLY what you describe on my Freelander 1 HSE and it was a worn inner CV joint on the front driveshaft at 58k miles. Replaced the driveshaft and cured it. Ask them to check that out as I took mine to 3 garages and they told me that it was unlikely to be a CV joint as they 'rarely wear out on the inner' - I used to own SAABs and had experienced the inner CV joint judder/vibration gremlin - so I insisted they checked it - and hey presto I was right after all. The symptoms only manifest themselves when the vehicle is under load accelerating at 50mp plus. Worth a try?

I have the same issue as well. I'm keeping an eye on what the dealers say to everyone. I've only noticed it over the past couple of weeks though.

Update.

My car has been at the dealers all week, apparently they have been looking into various parts with a Land Rover engineers assistance. They will be keeping the car for possibly another week.

I just hope they can fix it...

Mine is also in today for them to look at it (along with a long list of other things). Their intial reaction didn't seem positive, but you never know!

Hi ... good to see, that there are some more FL2 on the road with that vibration problem. Smile

I have been driving my 2009 with manuel gearbox for 4 weeks now and I have exactly the same problem.
Vibrations when accelerating in the upper gears ( but there is a slight vibration as well in the 3rd ) .. especially when driving through a left turn.
I will follow this thread curiously before getting in contact with my dealer.
Thanks for keeping us readers updated.

Cheers, Freddy

Car went in for service and to try and sort problem. Dealer now thinks it is clutch related and car is now booked in end of next week for two days. Remember there are never problems, just new challenges
