Just noticed that the new eD4 (2wd) GS is the same price as the pre-VAT rise tD4 (4WD) @ £24,995 - just £750 difference. Sounds like a rip off - £750 that buys you a Haldex unit, all the TR stuff and no doubt other features too.

Dealer I was in last week had one in white, looked the same as a 4wd except for the e badge. He said roughly a grand cheaper on each trim level. Presume they are seeking Quashqui market but suspect they will be too expensive. Dealer said, save a grand and regret it when it snows........ Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.

My view of the FL2 has always been that it silences 4x4 doubters.

Thanks chaps - no so much questioning LR logic but more the small price differential. I now how much I negotiated off mine and anyone should be able to get a TD4 for eD4 money.

Actually they might be aiming for some of the company car market too (what's left). Many companies, like the one I work for, have lowered the maximum CO2 levels on cars that drivers can have. So a 2WD version will still allow drivers to have a FL2 as the lowest other FL2 is 165.

Only reason is CO2 and BIK, not to make a hugely cheaper vehicle.

Cheers Macwallace - agree that BIK are crippling and cash option is still by far better, but you know sometimes I dream a bit |
