Silly dipstick

I expect this has been discused before.
Every time i try to pull out the stupid dipstick, there are always smears of oil on it which makes it difficult to tell where the level is. Evil or Very Mad
Has anyone got the knack of pulling the thing out cleanly without twisting it several times?

And all the snow has gone, b Censored s!! Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Pegleg, I agree with you the dipstick is stupid. The most accurate way I have found is to park the car on level ground overnight and check the oil before starting the car in the morning.
