Drove ok though

HDC fault again on mine allways had this when it's very cold but rectifies itself within a minute or so after start up. I assume the oil thins a little after starting up
Changed the wheels and tyres in anticipation today but at least SWMBO will be a little safer if the snow comes here.

won't be to do with the oil HDC is all electric...It's harder to start an engine when colder so more drain on the battery Thumbs Up Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

It displays the fault, then says "HDC Not Available", then it clears itself after a minute, so Question Only get it when its really cold.

NPinks, have you done any long journeys recently...Our D3 and also the Freel 2 sometimes now when cranking decides that the transmission is knackered, HDC not working and that basically it's all broke.

On the D3 it was caused because the battery was discharging when the car was started, but wasn't running long enough to top it back up, so the charge dropped. Under the demands of starting it, the battery couldn't produce enough charge to check all the systems, hence the message briefly. I suspect that this is the reason our FL is doing it now.

As we all know, car batteries lose their 'memory' over time if not fully charged regularly, so eventually it won't charge high enough to start the car and check all the systems at the same time, like the scenario with our D3.

Just to get back on topic guys, looks like the cold weather is going to continue for a while yet. More snow due early to midweek. I just went down the local housing estate and some yobs in a beefed up citroen C2 were trying their best to get up a very steep incline to the chinese takeaway car park Laughing

I just cruised past turned round and used HDC back down. They were furious so I waved and laughed Rolling with laughter LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I had this a few times last year, always when it was really cold. As you said, it corrected itself after a minute or so!

Hi Doc. Try flash lane on beeley top and then use your HDC coming down into Rowsley from there. Good fun round these parts in snowy conditions.

Mines absolutely filthy, no point in cleaning it in this weather Confused

Been to drop my parents dog off to be clipped, up a farm track with a few inch of snow on it without any problems at all, so quite happy with how it's handling on 19" M+S Conti's Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
