Now here's a thing. If you put non-standard oil in the car does it invalidate the warranty? Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

But if you let the oil run out then that invalidates the warranty as well. So let's just say you are in the car, fill it up and check the oil and find that it is very low. You are supposed to

- Use your noddle, find a compatible product and use that.
- Call LR Assist and get them out of bed cos the garage only has fully synthetic oil.
- Carry on and risk melting your car...

Excuse me for being a bit dramatic, but, what a load of bo Censored ks Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Yes it will without doubt but proving it over a short period of time is a somewhat different matter. It's very important to keep within the original specifications even though the spec of the oil put in might be higher.

What people can forget when buying supposed specs is that whilst it might be marketed as being better it hasn't necessarily been tested and approved as being fit for use on your engine.

It's easy to say that this oil and that oil have higher ratings, it doesn't always transfer backwards to the particular engine concerned.

Essentially just stick to what is specified as this is what the engine is signed off to.
