Jiff squeezy lemon works well too and smells better than vinegar! Failing that a big hammer usually gives a very clear screen and you'll never wear out the wiper blades.................. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

I have been told that the cause of this problem is the volatile plasticizers that are used in car fabrics. If this is true, you are never going to get rid of the problem, it will always come back. So frequent cleaning is the only answer. I think the evidence supports this suggestion. I use whatever window cleaning fluid my wife happens to have under the stairs, e.g. Windowlene; they all seem to work, but not to do a permanent job. |

Yuup White vinegar and news paper, works every time. MudBug, most of the big supermarkets sell their own brand of white vinegar. Dave Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated DAVE. |

Sorry to say this but you should never use Windowlene (the pink stuff) on vehicle windows, it can cause severe smearing when it rains. |

+1 for damp micro-fibre, although it depends on how dirty it is to start - you may need something that degreases, but hot water wringed out is usually enough. Other tips - AG Fast Glass. Also, buy some iso-propanol (100% pure) and use that. But for all options, after first full clean, leave for 30+ minutes and then wipe over again with a 100% cotton (preferably worn out) slice of white bedsheet. And keep another clean white bedsheet slice in the car - as it will probably bloom up again within a day or so as. THEN, it will stay clean for a while. Boil wash your white rags often and don't use anything that has seen exterior polish - it will add smears. NEVER, wipe mist from the screen with anything - be patient and wait for the de-mist to work. As for outside, treat with EnduroClean - like rain-X only 10x better. Better water shedding - virtually permanent on non wipered glass and last months on wipered glass. And does not smear under wipers like Rain-X (unless wipers are worn). You can even drive at 70mph in torrents with no wipers at all, it is that good (as you slow, you need the wipers again). Downside? - it's 5x the cost of Rain-X. Apply very sparingly using only a part of their application rag, or you will cost a fortune, but 100% worth it. Keeps the side windows clean for much longer. |
