Is this your current average, ie, not been reset? If so, you are doing staggeringly well. Mine is the same model and year and currently registers 29 mpg. Last tank mpg calculated by me was 32mpg. Absolute best I have seen after resetting on a motorway was 47 but that didn't last long. Don't know what I am doing wrong as many others report 40 + with mixed driving. Dealer reckons no probs and that you would actually be lucky to get anything over 34 mpg.

Yes this is the current average as shown. (town and motorway) Its only got 3000 miles on the clock so would like to think it would get better as the miles go on?

I was just trying to see what I could get it up to. Like I say Ive been driving it like a tart to achieve this figure, and have knocked it outta gear on the odd occasion downhill. telfire

Mine's done 18k and the fuel ecomony has taken me by suprise.
I'm getting 36-38 mpg on local runs and my weekly 90 mile trip on A roads i always get mid 40's. Due to slow lorries on the same journey, i once averaged 49!!
Bear in mind this is with very little stop start.
I reckon it's all to do with a combination of driving styles and traffic/road conditions. I rarley venture near towns; most of my miles are rural.

I have a TD4_e on 13k miles, found the start stop does help quite a bit in the towns. For the average week doing the average driving i get 39-41mpg, if i'm careful on the average week i can see 43mpg.

My best ever record was a long trip on the motorway, challenged myself to see how high can i go and i got an average of 48mpg, was hard work concentrating on being super efficient.

I too have a GS manual coming up to 13K miles. I have the start stop system switched on and works very well in town.
Based on a combination of mainly town and little motorway driving in a normal week, I do get about 37-39 mpg.
If its mainly motorway, I can see 42 mpg.

Best ever I have seen is 45.5mpg on my way home from a week away in Scotland but came down to about 42 mpg by the time I got across the M25 Mad Land Rover Freelander 2 GS Santorini Black, 2.2 Td4-e, Rear Spoiler Very Happy

My 2010 GS manual has done just over 5000 miles...the average for that whole period is 40.1. It was 40.2 but I put my foot down a bit the other day. Working hard to get it back or 40.2 or 40.3. I'm happy with that kind of figure

I think I'm right in thinking that coasting down hills in neutral uses more fuel than being in a high gear. If there's a small amount of engine braking going on, the ECU is bright enough to starve the engine of fuel, thus using little if any. Whereas, if you're ticking over in neutral you're using fuel. Saves the brake pads a little too. Don't coast!

Well telfire that sounds about right to me. I think I saw 44mpg on the M1 but it didn't last long. Remember that the engine will take a while to loosen up. My car has only done 5k now so in time it will be better still. Using the new Shell fuelsave diesel I am getting between 475 and 500 miles out of a full tank. The 500 miles resulting from more motorway driving than I normally do day to day but 475 is good for a mix of town and motorway. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Over 10-15k miles I'm showing an average of nearly 42mpg. This includes country lanes, town and A/Mway driving. Very happy

2007 Manual TD4. 30k miles. Motorway sticking to 70 mph about 40 mpg. Overall mixed A roads and a bit of town about 34 to 36 mpg. Towing 1250 kg van 22 to 24 mpg. Looks as though my figures are somewhat lower than those above. Perhaps I should expect better.
