It is a touch on the noisey side. Youtube's a good idea, and at some point you'll be outside or at some lights and one will pull up next to you.

My engine has quite a noisy tickover, but it's not too intrusive. My car's done 28k now and the engine noise is the same as my Dad's FL2, with 5k on the clock. I'd say there's nothing to worry about. Re the comments about the former BMW units - they may have been slightly quieter, but they were also gutless Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass |

First time I drove a FL2 - I was surprised how noisy the engine was at idle and low speeds.

Hi Andy, if you are really that concerned, go down to a well-know high street electronics shop and buy a 'digital sound meter' at £35 new. Measure the noise at set positions and distances in front of your car and compare it to others of mates or at the dealers etc. Could then flog the meter on fleabay and get some of your money back. Bit pricey, but would let you know one way or the other. |

You could always try adding 2 stroke oil, many have said this reduces the tickover sound. |

Tried the two stoke oil for last three weeks made absolutely no difference. Changing the engine oil was mentioned. Car had a full service three months (1000 miles ago). Don't think I need to worry about the oil unless there is something I should know about.
