2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Baltic Blue
Seat Adjustment or Lack of it

I have carried out a search and my apologies if this has been covered before.

I have a 2008 HSE. Electric seats.
The Manual shows a switch on the side of the seat which does the following:-
Seat Forward/Backwards.
Cushion Height.
Cushion Tilt.

On my drivers seat the switch is simplified but I can just about get the seat in a comfotable position.

On the passenger side the adjustment options are totally inadequate for a car such as this.
All I can adjust is the rake of the seat back and move forward or backward.

How can I adjust the seat height and the cushion tilt?
Our other car (Toyota Yaris) has much better seat adjustment.
We are now having to look at purchasing some form of additional cushion.

Someone please tell me I am missing something obvious.

Regards Andrewprd

This is the way it is on passenger.
Only forward and backward for the vertical part of the seat and forward and backward for the whole seat.
No adjustment for the seat height.
Only the driver is the lucky one with full adjustment seat. Very Happy

OK

Am I the only person that thinks this is poor. I have a passenger with me on most journeys. It seems a little strange that Land Rover can offer the same seat warming for the pasenger as the driver but not the flexibilty of seat adjustment.

Does anyone know if the later models have improved on this?

If not, is there a wish list that Land Rover pick up on?

Has anyone found a solution other than a seat cushion?

What's the manual seat adjustment like on the passenger side?

On MY09 driver seat is 8 way, backward-forward, height and rake and lumber adjustment. For the passenger its 6 way - just don't have the lumber support. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

Thank you for your responses.

It seems that the later models have been upgraded.

Am thinking therefore if a modification is possible?

Think I might risk asking the Dealer!!

More adjustment on drivers seat in a HSE and includes electric lumber, my old SE had manual lumber support

maybe the lumber system is in the chair and you'll need the manual dial for the lumber support Idea Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

OK sorry no photos but this is what I've got (or not got)
Driver's Seat
I'm relatively happy with this although its' not exactly whats shown in Handbook.

Passenger's Seat
Only has seat back angle and whole seat forwards/backwards.
It has:-
No seat tilt.
No seat height adjustment.
No Lumber (Can live without this feature on this seat).
There are only two button levers. One with seat rake (<- ->) and the other button back/forward (<- ->)

The passenger seat shown by npinks appears to show passenger seat height which is one of the main features which sadly I haven't got. I thought the HSE was top of the range. Does anyone own a 2008 HSE with passenger seat height adjustment?

Many thanks

My old SE sounds like its the same as your is

I didn't realise this was different ( i dont do passenger seat as the wife doesnt drive it) I have just gone out to it, and it does go up and down too, but only at the back as such, not the front of the chair like the drivers.

May it just requires a new switch gear and motor if available as a add on

Another option would be LHD breakers yard, buy the drivers seat and cover it in your trim Idea Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

there is no doubt the freelander has the worst seat adjustment of any car in this sector, unless you buy the HSE.
My XS has electric seats but the drivers is 6way, no adjustment for the seat angle, even worse, as you raise the seat height this tips the cushion forward until at max height the seat base is almost flat. It must be the only car with electric seats that does this. My 1970 Volvo had a better adjustment. The volkswagen electric seats not only adjust all ways but you can electricrally adjust the height position and the firmness of the lumber support.
I am sure this is done for marketing reasons as it would cost very little to give full adjustment, but its a case of if you want to get comfy you have to buy the HSE.
