Anyone know if the front and rear lashing eyes are just that, or are they proper recovery points i.e. high load bearing ? We Don't Care About Pot Holes !! |

Have you looked at the engineering of it? The rear is forged steel mounted using high tensile bolts. They are suitable just don't go crazy on it. This post is from a LRE instructor. 1.5 x GVM is 3750 kg http://www.aulro.com/afvb/freelander/95740...ost1155185 |

Hmm, conflicting information. I must admit, I've examined the points visually, and I'd certainly trust them for a straight tow or an assisted out of mud, (both vehicles driving). Maybe not for a snatch recovery though, upto 5x GVM sometimes required for that.

Not really conflicting, they are towing points not recovery points, depends how stuck you intend to get, and how you intend to tow out. At work

In the car manual it says that you have to remove the front plastic sump guard before towing the vehicle. How practical is that, if the car is sitting in mud with all 4 wheels? 2010 Freelander 2 Select TD4 auto....gone

My dealer must have expected me to off road a brand new car, as I found that cover in the boot after he delivered the car At work
