M55MPN, if you wish to try an off road experience before you buy just pop into a Land Rover dealer and you should be able to get a free half day at your nearest center. Be warned after a go off road you will want one yesterday.

If you want to see how a fl2 works (or doesnt) go to AD5480947's dealer as his car is in 1000's pieces on the floor At work

When it comes to offroading you can do it gently or not.
If you want to be able to get home in the snow/floods, and are doing a little green laning the side steps and mud flaps should be fine.
Try showing a Defender driver how it's done and the side steps and mud flaps will be ripped off, more to the point they will damage the car in the process - wing and liner damaged on FL1 when mudflap was forceably removed.

In the recent good/bad weather IMHO you won't find a better vehicle for general road use and the ability to always get you home.

Definately ask for a Land Rover Experience day - you will be amazed at just what can be done, and you don't risk damaging your pride and joy.

Definately get the HSE if you can. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Before I got my Freelander Landcaster Landrover Reading gave me a free ticket to the Landrover Experience, I havent been yet as I bought the car anyway.
When I collected it they gave me 2 more tickets!
From what I have seen on the internet its seems worth the effort of going, we are planning a day out with family and friends. Hopefully I can convert some more car drivers!
Having had luxury cars before, I can assure you wont miss the Merc
Razz

If you are serious about off-roading then the side steps will reduce your ground clearance, maybe 8cm? as they hang lower than the sill. Phil

a ps from last posting ....From all the input have decided that side tubes are best as I will be doing some off road stuff, forget about steps and the skirt problem ( Laughing ) adaptive Xenons still on the choice list, no mud flaps for the time being as the jury is out about effectiveness and I don't want to cut into trim and then decide not brilliant choice. Thanks to tip about asking about Landrover Experience tickets too - I've already been offered them over the phone before first viewing this Friday! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
