some mud hits the side tubes,none gets on the sides of the car (car I said not van/hearse ). The dealer put the flaps on for free, because I am the best Also free rubber floor mats At work

I had a flat once an called LRA on it. They did not take off or loosen anything regarding the tubes but then again they do have more professional jacks.

when I put on my award winning wheels I used a small trolley jack, directly under the side tube mounts, leaving the tubes on. ( then I took the tubes off anyway to give them a proper clean ) At work
