Looks like my fob has given up, showed no problems until this evening when I popped out and the cat wouldn’t open. Tried it a few times then got the spare and opened straight away. Popped the old one in the slot and the car started first time, drove around for twenty minutes or so , got out pressed the button and the car locked with only one flash of the indicator, fob is now dead again.

The battery is a Panosonic "VL2330" not "DL2330" and is definately a rechargeable battery. It is a horizontal mount, and the ones that I have found on the net are about £6. Here is a link to one I found earlier :-

There is no direct contact for charging the key. It is done by coils inducing a magnetic field which inturn will cause a current to flow charging the battery or capasitor or what ever there is in the hand set, just like your tooth brush |

I do under stand the inductive charging in the key and toothbrush, Its possible on some electric cars to recharge the battery by parking in a special space with a coil buried under the car...and leaving it there for a long long time At work |
