Thinking of joining the FL2 brigade.

Hi all, hope someone here can help.

Have finally narrowed down our search for a new (used) car to a LRFL2... It had taken 3 months and plenty of test drives of all sorts of cars..!

Anyway.. the car is unfortuntately right at the top of our budget.
Looking like the most we are going to be able to spend including a p/x (so that rules out private) is about £18k.

Only really interested in the SE, as I want the steering controls/bluetooth/sat nav/half leather... or the HSE.. but that is looking v. unlikely on our budget.

Would rather get one from an authorised dealer, and there are several for about that £figure, although these are mainly 56plate(07's).
these cars are all about to fall out of warranty, although an authorised dealer will give a 12 month warranty.

Can someone tell me if this is generally a dealer warranty, or if it is likely to be a LR warranty.

My ideal would be a 57/08 in black SE with 20k ish miles ... but that just is not likely to happen!

Anything in particular I should be looking out for when using a LR dealer? Moving over from a world of Alfa Romeo dealers... so have had the odd issue in the past!

fair chance will be using one of the herts/essex/n london dealers.

Thanks.

Charlie.

Hi Charlie71

I am on my 2nd FL2 and no complaints Thumbs Up

If buying from LR dealer with 12 month LR approved warranty you can go to any LR dealer - check it is not a cheaper independant warranty though.

Recently had an issue with a second hand LR and dealer refunded no problem so would have no worries.

Hope this helps Very Happy Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Try Webuyanycar.com instead of part Ex. remember its the price to change thats important, don't be seduced by a high trade-in price coupled with a higher purchase price

Thanks for replies guys.

Webuyanycar.... cant even type that without singing that awful advert.. offered just 2k for our car. Dealers so far are offering 2.3- 2.5k.

It is my own fault.. been seduced by the FL2.. I knew I should not have looked at it, and stuck with something far less interesting like a BMW 3, or the alfa 159....

I guess by getting rid of the alfa privately, I will be able to get a better deal on the 'new' car, but yes you re right.. it is all about the cost to change.. and have made it clear to the dealers I have been to not to give two prices... just.. my car plus 'what' = FL2!

never seen the advert everyone is talking about, note to self 'watch more telly' Shocked

To save cash just buy an XS and a tomtom/garmin... the LR say nav is average at best, some even use the LR screen as a mount for portable sat navs.
Dont get a grey one either, far too bland. At work

Had a quick look at the xs spec..

seems to have pretty much all I wanted less the sat nav, and a sunroof... I can definitely live without the sat nav, pretty sure about the sunroof too. Anything else different about the specs anyone know..?

A few more care now falling into my price range this way on autotrader. cheers.

Charlie.

I had a look at webuyanycar last night, as i am thinking of swapping Mrs NP's car ('53 Fiat Punto Active)

Offered me £2025 compared to Ford dealers £2200 against a Fiesta Zetec quite please with these as the car was bought for £6300 5 years ago Smile

Drivethedeal came back with some ok prices too, so it now a question of buy car or move house.... talk about one extreme to the other Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hello, I've got an 07' XS I think the XS benefits over the SE half leather seats, front parking sensors, electric driver and passenger seats and Bluetooth. Mine also has the Alpine audio upgrade but I'm not sure if that is part of the 'XS' I think it is. Thumbs Up
