Window motor change only?

My drivers side window has packed up - Im just about to buy the new unit to replace the regulator and motor. Before i replace the whole thing - Is it possible to just change the motor assuming that is the issue, or is it such a faff that changing the whole thing is more sensible. It looks a fiddly job either way. I'm looking forward to some cold scraped knuckles in the next week or so. '07 i6 Petrol XS

I have not done a Fl2, but did a few on my old Fl 1. Wouldn't go there again. The repairs kits were so difficult to fit, and never worked smoothly after repair. The tailgate window was the worst !

Answer is whole thing is so much easier to replace than just the motor! Done in a couple of hours. Glass is fiddly to remove but not impossible. If you need some instructions i have a really good set i can send. '07 i6 Petrol XS
