My 2014 Sd4 GS

So now I'm officially in the club.
Been browsing in here for a while and finally took delivery of an approved used Fl2, 2014 on only 17000 miles. Just like a new car, even smells like one.
Changing from a Disco 2 which I have owned for exactly 11 years today and after 164000 miles was getting a bit long in the tooth and not as reliable as I need.
Got a twin axle swift caravan to tow and have read great reports about the Sd4s towing ability. The plan is that this will be a long term ownership vehicle that will be cherished and loved so I'll be around for a while.

Good choice, I have an SD4 GS to tow my twin axle, which it does with ease. The F2 replaced a D3, and the money i saved in fuel/maintenance made so much sense.

Enjoy your ownership. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

Pleased to hear that, been contemplating D3/4 for a long time and much as I'd love one the potential for ridiculous bills would always be on my mind. I think (hope) that the F2 will be the ideal compromise between reliability / ability / cost of ownership.

well coming off the approved scheme you should have 2 years minimum of worry free driving.............. not saying that nothing will go wrong but 99% of things should be covered by the warranty so its peace of mind Thumbs Up

Since the server went down I don't seem to be able to copy threads and paste them in other threads.

So, select 'search' in the top box type 'Warranty 50k' .... then scroll down to "Extended warranty" thread.

On reading this thread ..... there seems to be a mileage limit of 50K ??

Check this doesn't effect you.

I'd say I'll be ok, that's another 33000 miles away although I do a fair few miles I don't think I'll cover that in 2 years.

(Edit: Ive done 11000 miles in 6 months though Shocked )

guessing its approved warranty instead of extended warranty.... I believe there are different mileage limitations between the 2 policies.
IIRC Approved is 2 years/unlimited mileage but car must be under 6 years/100,000 miles at point of purchase
Extended warranty is generally an annual policy, and as the name suggests is an extension of either the manufacturers warranty or the approved warranty payable by the owner with a limit of 50,000 miles in the policy period.

Yep, thats the one. Does give peace of mind. I know nothing mechanical is ever totally reliable however Freelander 2 is often described as Landrover's most reliable vehicle, so here's hoping.....

I have had a 14 reg SD4 XS for about 6 months and last night we were coming back home with my wife driving so I was playing around with the controls when I noticed for the first time that I had heated front seats - and they work! I had never noticed the button in the centre of the temperature dial before, anyway so I see that your GS model looks to have the same button. I can't recall if my previous GS models had this but they didn't have leather seats so perhaps it only comes with leather ? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
