This 'Loss of Accelerator Control' post also matches your problem and is linked to Fuel Filter problems, including using Non-LR (type) Filters that are missing the internal valve.

One other thing in the Air Path is the Throttle Body Flap (the actuator does stick and fail, but this is a long shot and is very unlikely. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Hi all. I managed to fix the issue. Having reviewed many threads I was at the point of frustration but another symptom arose. My wife "stalled" the car. This caused me to conclude that the throttle body was at fault. So, I got one from powerfuluk and fitted it. Along with a fuel filter change, for good measure, everything now works as it should. My gearbox is still a bit clunky (service needed I think) but all ok and much smoother to drive overall. I opened up the faulty throttle body and found it was full of sludgy oil. No doubt from the EGR system. Pics attached. I hope this helps someone.
