I'm thinking a 4x4 Skoda Superb estate is likely to be my next car. Just turned over 120000 miles in the Freelander so I'm hoping there's a bit of life left in it yet.

I wanted one, but they are rare, especially as l wanted a manual/2.0TDi

Why not look at the Kodiaq?
I’m very happy with mine, having owned it for almost 3 years

I'm not planning on changing for a few years yet, my Freelander still going well but just idly planning the next car, as I normally do.
It would be a DSG 4x4 estate I'd be after, realise they are not common but would be prepared to travel to get the right car / spec.
Kodiaq is a decent car too, my brother has one and really likes it and my dad had the Karoq, both dsg 4x4s, we also had a Tiguan TDI 4motion manual until very recently so do like the VW group offerings. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Rimini Red

Really.
A DSG box is the height of unreliability, and is best avoided second hand. Unfortunately people don't know how to use a DSG, so clutch pack wear is very high, and if it's not the clutch packs at fault, then it's the mechatronic unit failing, where repair costs are eye-watering.
A conventional automatic is miles more reliable in the long term. Just my opinion of course, but I have had the misfortune of diagnosing DSG box issues on more than one occasion. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I think the issue with DSG boxes is lack of servicing, they aren't 'sealed for life', also they need adjustment not just an oil change. VW group sell millions of them, they can't be all bad. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
