Take a look at the New Defender, load space is about the same and has D rings.

If you are putting in a massive load with sharp edges which would stick into the floor. Like 150 roof tiles. Put something down to spread localised stress on the honeycomb floor.

The Freelander does have a pretty good floor, but newer LRs are also useful in that regard. I'd think carefully before going for a PHEV though. A modern petrol or diesel will be cheaper to to run, without the complications and cost implications of a PHEV. Generally a PHEV is the worst of both BEV and ICE. So electric range is low and inefficient, so expensive on electric, and fuel costs are higher due to increased weight of the battery and other electronics. My brother in law has a company Audi A6 PHEV, and is far from impressed with the economy of the thing. He's going BEV for the next vehicle, as the range is now acceptable for a days use, and fuel costs are lower for personal mileage. He doesn't pay for servicing, but a BEV is generally 50% cheaper than an equivalent ICE based vehicle. Just an option of course, based on loads of data acquired before deciding on getting a BEV. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone. Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver. 1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project. |
