Thought it was worth while bringing this thread into play.

The recent Forum questions about the history of the FL2 and its Engine made me pull James Taylor's book off the bookshelves and start to reread it.

I had forgotten lots of odd facts, for example,
around 2008, JLR had produced Freelander 2 based Concepts/Prototypes which included
Lithium Battery
Integrated Electric Rear Axle Drive
Integrated Starter Generator
Seamless Reconnect Propshaft
E-Mode Terrain Response
Electric Power Steering
and so on

As we know none of the above made it into production in the FL2, but must have formed the basis of the Evoque/DS changes. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
