United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue
Harddrive Video Player

I have just purchased the rear screens for my FL2 but I don’t want to put in a DVD player or IPod in. I would like a neat permanently fixed solution so I was thinking of putting a hard drive media player like the Popcorn Hour (https://www.ripcaster.co.uk/node/329).
Anyone else done this and have any tips?

I've got a similar bit of kit at home called the HDX-1000 (same Syabas internals). Good idea but not quite sure how robust it would be in a car environment. Shocked

I would have thought it would be tidier just to connect a HDD PMP under the front seat that you can remove at the end of the day. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE

I use this HDD Player . Works excellent - I used double sided padded sticky tape to tape it onto the side of the centre tunnel so that it doesn't get seen/kicked/nicked. New: Freelander2 GS 62 plate (MY13) - Santorini Black with Clearview & Front PDC
Old: Freelander2 XS 09 Plate - Zermatt Silver with ST3 remap (eco map), Garmin 1490T Sat Nav, Rear Seat Entertainment kit

I have just won a ICY Box Media Player (http://www.nanopoint.com.tw/en/datasheet/IB-MP303S-B_UK.pdf) on eBay so I will let you know how it goes. It runs on 12v so I should be able to take a feed to it direct.

First testing went well, i have created a power cable that can take power direct from the car power socket and also modified the media player so the remote control receiver is on a fly cable so I can hide the box under the seat and the remote for the device will still work.

I have uploaded some pics of the project so far in my gallery,
