Someone crashed into me

Another car crashed into my 2013 Freelander 2 HSE Lux, and was just looking for opinions if you think it will be repaired or written off?
Other vehicle crossed to my side of the road and crashed into drivers side front wing area.
All the front airbags deployed, and the car was not driveable as in gear would not move as maybe front wheel trapped in wheel arch.
Drivers door was also difficult to open
Car had about 113,000 miles.
I don't have pictures as it was too dark and dangerous where it happened.

Is it best to claim off other cars insurer, as I don't want increased premiums?

I think insurance companies used to work on if it’s more then 2/3 of the trade value to repair they write it off.

Well if the other car crossed to your side of the road, it’s not your fault.
Your insurance will sort it out.
You don’t need to do anything about claiming from the other persons insurance.
I assume the police attended?
I would also have a proper medical checkup on you any passengers.

I'd say at 10 years old with 113k on the clock it's going yo be a write off unfortunately with panel, suspension and air bag damage.
You'll probably get a depressingly low offer too. Spend some time checking out asking prices for similar cars and have this available to provide to the insurance company with a real world price to replace your car.
Unfortunately your premium will automatically increase because you have to disclose any accidents or claims for 5 years when buying insurance. Even though you are not at fault their algorithms will decide you are now a higher risk.

If the air-bags deployed, on a vehicle of that age, it will not be an economical repair. Sorry.

The hourly labour rate to correct your car could be as much as £130/hr !!!!!

Yes it seems unfair. On the face of it, as the accident is not your fault, you ought to be able to recover the additional insurance costs that you will suffer for the next 5 years from the person causing your accident.
But life's not like that. Jules

If the air bags have deployed, then the vehicle decelerated fast enough for the body to have been subject to substantial loads. If it were new, it would have been worth a body shop putting it on a jig to check it's still within spec, and tweek it of not.

However at 10 years old, with average mileage on the clock, the insurers will say its a write off.
However as it wasn't your fault, you have a good case for not being put of pocket at all. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I can report that my Freelander 2 has been written off, as a lot of you suspected would happen.

Just have to wait now for insurance to pay out, or for them to find an excuse not to pay out.

Just shows you can be a safe driver, but we share the roads with others that can deprive you of your pride and joy. At least I still own another car that I can still use.

You shouldn't be out of pocket, so get all you can out of the other party. After all it was the other party that was responsible. Make them pay. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

As expected unfortunately.
Now is the time for you to research similar age/spec/mileage cars to provide to the insurance company when they undoubtedly give you a low ball offer.
Will you replace it with another Freelander 2 or have you other cars in mind? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I don't know how it works in the UK but on a write off "offer" by insurance, never take the first or second offer, get them to a third AND, the other driver was at fault so???

It depends on the insurance company and policy type, but in a none fault claim, the innocent party can't or at least shouldn't be out of pocket. So if a car is a write off, then the payout should be enough to buy a replacement vehicle of similar age, condition and mileage, plus any out of pocket expenses like bus or train tickets to get to the new vehicle, and anything else the innocent party needs to spend that they wouldn't have needed to if the person hadn't have hit them. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. Personally I'd ask for a "Buy back" price from the insurance company. If it's less than a grand, I'd buy it back and flog it on Ebay . For the age and mileage, I reckon you'd get around the £2500- £3000 mark despite the damage. It'll make a great breaker for someone.
Just check out the prices of individual parts and you'll see it'll be a very attractive buy for someone with the time and inclination to part it out. Especially being such a high spec.
It may well boost you over all payout if it's a bit on the light side.
