When you say "conked out" do you mean the engine stopped of its own accord while driving, or were you stopped with an idle engine, or it failed to start? |

I reckon the glowplug issue is/was a red herring...

Cheers Dave, I have considered that, tank is half full and fuel come through easily when I use the primer so transfer pump seems ok, but no codes suggesting injection pump, but always open to suggestions. Cheers Voyager man

You may have fitted a new battery, but what is the actual voltage when it is trying to start the car.

The tank being half full and the ability to prime easily doesn’t mean that fuel is getting to the cylinders. Are you sure the high pressure pump on the end of the crankshaft is delivering fuel? Early FL2 had a fault with the camshaft. The drive for the pump on the end of the camshaft would break off. Somewhere there is a post with the relevant VIN numbers of cars affected. The symptom, engine just stops while driving.

Cheers for the info, presumably if I remove the pump I will be able to inspect the camshaft? Cheers Voyager man

Maybe the throttle body noise is a clue. They are known to strip the plastic gears and make horrible noises when doing so. Has it broken and stuck shut? |
