Won’t start! Help!

Ground to a halt, now won’t start!

My 2007 td4 auto conked out on me last week, got it recovered home. Codes showed Glowplug circuit P0380 Glowplug Circuit heater Circuit A. Checked fuse and relay, all good changed all four plug, and the loom as well as it looked very ratty! So went to start, but like an idiot forgot to reconnect Throttlebody plug! All glow plug codes now gone but showing P002E9-73 air flow intake position sensor - circuit high! And still won’t start! Just turns over and eventually throws up Hdc inactive! Help! Changed Fuel as I had it off as well! (Yes I primed it 😊)

Advice welcomed

When you say "conked out" do you mean the engine stopped of its own accord while driving, or were you stopped with an idle engine, or it failed to start?

I reckon the glowplug issue is/was a red herring...

Sounds like fuel delivery issues to me, but I'm no expert. Wink

Cheers Dave, I have considered that, tank is half full and fuel come through easily when I use the primer so transfer pump seems ok, but no codes suggesting injection pump, but always open to suggestions. Cheers Voyager man

You may have fitted a new battery, but what is the actual voltage when it is trying to start the car.

The tank being half full and the ability to prime easily doesn’t mean that fuel is getting to the cylinders. Are you sure the high pressure pump on the end of the crankshaft is delivering fuel? Early FL2 had a fault with the camshaft. The drive for the pump on the end of the camshaft would break off. Somewhere there is a post with the relevant VIN numbers of cars affected. The symptom, engine just stops while driving.

Ok, been busy

Battery voltage good, 13v
High pressure fuel pump removed and inspected. Camshaft end good, pump not seized.
So cambelt, I thought cambelt failure would be catastrophic?? But will check!
Will replace crank sensor
Car still showing Air intake code and throttle body motor making horrible noise

Maybe the throttle body noise is a clue. They are known to strip the plastic gears and make horrible noises when doing so. Has it broken and stuck shut?
