Freelander 1 was a lot narrower, which IIRC negatively influenced export sales as some of the more traditional markets want wide cars for wide people. Jules |

The FL2 was wider than I thought, although I quickly learnt how wide it was when negotiating the local narrow roads/lanes.

OK so we have compared the FL2 and the Disco 3/4, but what about the New Defender, which others believe is a 'BIG' vehicle.

The Freelander body width is 1910mm. You can stick on some door strips to make it wider, about 1930mm. It has very wide window sills to rest your arm on, love them! So probably the seats are set inwards a bit more than the D3/4.

One of the things my wife likes about the FL2 are the cut-away door sills -you dont get mud on your legs so easily as in other vehicles. Jules |
