MAF sensor - Calibration or Set Up?

Hey guys,

My fl2 2008 went into the garage few weeks ago for stuttering and hesitation in throttle response. They found a faulty MAF sensor and replaced it.

Since I have had it back the car has been running fine but I've noticed a few things:

1) MPG has plummeted to 18-21mpg on the trip computer where as I was getting high 20s early 30s before it went in. Seems like it has plummeted for no reason (same journeys before and after same weather etc) Is there any set up on a MAF sensor or anything like that to do as this is the only thing that has changed?

2) I now have different feeling gear changes (auto). Seems like the gear changes are later and not changing as early, why would it do this?

Contact the garage tell them about your concerns and ask them if they fitted a genuine or a good oem MAF sensor or a cheapo copy also if they did an air path recalibration after fitting the MAF sensor.

As said above.

Aftermarket MAFs are best avoided, OE or genuine FoMoCo are best.

Also it's not a fit n format item.
Any component (sensor or actuator) on this engine needs a calibration procedure to be completed or it won't run optimally, and sometimes just plain badly.

If a MAF is replaced, an air path calibration needs to be carried out with suitable diagnostic equipment. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Its the same for fitting a replacement EGR valve - needs an air path calibration.

Ive no idea how much a garage would charge but a friend of a friend did mine for £30 Jules

Again one of my three Code readers will do an air path recalibration but I can't remember which one, A guess says its the GAP. Next time I have them out I will check. If I remember

Just curious...
Is this air calibration specific to non straight 6 models?
I bought a used air box a few years back and it came with the stock MAF. I swapped the entire box with MAF, kept mine as a spare, and never had any issued.

i think if you do a battery reset the ecu will relearn its self ,like it does with a stop start battery(agm).this is what i did with the throttle body,car drives fine.the battery relearning takes a day or so to work.

Doing a hard reset won't do an air path calibration, and it won't reset the TB. The new data from sensors and actuators needs the ECM to be put in a learning mode, then the engine is held at various RPMs at running temperature for about 30 minutes.
If your TB hasn't failed, it's because it's stop positions are very similar to the old one, so you were lucky.
