Hello, just passing and saw this thread. For what it’s worth there’s an 80 yr old couple recently posted on Money Saving Expert whose renewal on their RR Sport has gone up from £660 to £7100. Someone else has added that they’re 42, clean licence, 3000 miles a year in a Velar, premium last year £660 and cannot get it less than £16000 😳 on the comparison sites. Yes, you did read that correct, £16000!.

This 'What Car' Survey on Hybrid Depreciation shows a majority of the Top 10 Hybrids Least likely to loose money are Land Rover Products. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/news/the-10...38#image=1 This month's What Car Magazine has a 3 car comparison test and the Discovery Sport is far less to buy on PCP of the 3 as it retains about two-thirds it's value over 3 years. I think the average depreciation is about half every 3 years. In fact all LR vehicles have a superior percentage retention of value, despite the reported reliability problems. I have been pleasantly surprised at the retained value of my present FL2 Metro (9 years old), still showing at about £11k+. I just hope that I don't get a nasty surprise when I come to part exchange it sometime in the future. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011) FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 79k+ miles) (MY2015) Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History (Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?) |

I think you will be lucky to get £11k+ . My 14 plate XS SD4 auto with 75k miles and FSH was only showing £8k on WBAC and Autotrader valued it similarly. I paid £18k for it in 2017 so £10k depreciation over 6 years isn't too bad really. However the 3 yr old DS that replaced it was priced at £33k so used car prices have gone up a lot in the meantime. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I wonder if ULEZ has had a sudden impact ? There must be a lot of people in London offloading diesels at the moment. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I think a big part of falling used car prices is due to the world catching up after Covid, new cars now have a much faster delivery date once you order, it’s simply supply & demand. |

Yes my son ordered a new Porsche 911 in June 2022 and he takes delivery next week. It was only in the last couple of months that they were able to give him a build date. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I think that there is a general tightening up of money going on. Looking on rightmove there is an awful lot more with reduced marked up besides the listing. People who buy older cars on a budget generally want cheaper road tax as well |

This from LV to justify a £200 increase on an old Corsa used as a second car

When money gets tight people will buy more used parts to keep their cars on the road. This leads to lowly run of the mill older cars being stolen just for spares. I remember a few years ago a gang in Bedfordshire stealing Vauxhall Astra inbig numbers to strip for spares, in turn making insurance cost more |
