United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Santorini Black
What's it worth

Hi all, I'm upgrading to a Discovery Sport so I need to sell my freelander 2. How much can I ask for it, it's a 2008 td4 Automatic 2.2L with 150000 miles with full service history and will have a full MOT on Friday. Its in realy good nick for year and starts and runs great. All black with black unmarked wheels. Just had service and new front discs & pads, good tyres all round.

At least wbac gives you a worse case scenario. At £400 a year road tax now I would guess that the market is getting smaller for old 4x4 cars. As said it’s worth what someone will pay.

Did you read this recent 'For Sale' post.
Selling a similar FL2, for a few thousand.
I have noticed that used car prices are dropping quite sharply at the moment.

The auction YouTube videos I watch are all saying the same thing about car prices falling.

Depreciation on cars in general seems to getting higher. Obviously you loose less on old cars in absolute terms. Jules

One drawback of running an older motor is that if it has even a minor prang the insurance companies will write it off as beyond economical repair.

Indeed that can be a real PITA , especially if you can fix it yourself. Jules

apparently the cost for 1 new matrix headlight on a new(ish) range rover is £2900+vat so a front end smash is already well over 10-12k in parts alone, thats before labour, paint, car hire, etc etc

My current car is a 2016 (17MY) VW Tiguan worth about 16-20k with matrix LED headlights, front radar etc so I can guarantee mine will be written off for a medium level front end crash.

whilst i totally disagree with insurance companies being so quick to write off cars, I can see why they do.

the whole industry needs a major overhaul, from underwriters to car hire companies

Years ago it was rust that killed motors off, now it’s electrics and electronics

Also the profiteering of over priced replacement parts if JLR are not carful they will price themself off the market which is starting to happen now, no one will want a RR unless they have more money than sense. 2013 FL2 XS.

Interesting you described the DS as an upgrade, as tech aside, mechanically it's not so good as the Freelander, and much more expensive to maintain, especially the 2.0L diesel.

What model Freelander? There is qiite a big difference in value between the base model and top model. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone.
2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver.
1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project.
