Freeland 2 Automatic 2009. Play in rear left Drive Shaft

Hi all, noticed a clunk sound from the left rear drive shaft area over the last few months and when I had the timing belt renewed at the dealers they reported a "worn" drive shaft. Ordered a new replacement from Autodoc and it all measured correctly, followed the manual and installed it, noise gone. However, I notice now there is a lot of up down play in the shaft and its seeping oil. I gather I may have damaged the oil seal but I'm worried about the play in the shaft itself. The other side moves very slightly but not like the new one. anyone know if a damaged seal can allow a lot of play? Could it be the bearing? Many thanks for any feedback.
