EBD Fault - Error Message

Hello guys,

Ever got this message "edf fault" on screen? It happens randomly & it appears for a second only when starting, no other symptoms.

Thanks !

I haven't heard of this one.

All I can find at the moment is this list from an earlier year than yours

https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr2-35/p...ges-60774/

Have you read what codes are stored via an OBD Reader?

Can someone enlighten me on what is EDF, as apart from the well loved Electricity Company, the only reference I can find is to AdBlue (the Exhaust Diesel Fluid) FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

The usual one when starting and the battery is a little low is hdc system fault
Is it definitely EDF? 🤔

I’ve had EBD fault showing on mine occasionally on start up when I press the start button, the instruments do the normal thing but it doesn’t start and then starts on the second attempt.

I reported it to the main dealer and they didn’t know what it was and couldn’t find any error codes, it’s been doing it for 4 years now and nothing has ever manifested itself performance wise?? 64 plate TD4 SE Santorini Black

I'll try and record the message if I see it, but the car starts slow as well, sometimes at the second attempt (glow plugs changed 3 weeks ago)

No smoke, no perf issues after that.

Managed to catch the Censored .

Actually is EBD Fault.
It appears for a sec & then goes away.

Behaviour is intermittent, happens randomly but usually after being unused for 2 days & if taken for a short drive. Does not appear after longer trips.

Could be the battery?

Electronic Brake Distribution?

Any brake work been done recently? Sounds like ABS control unit to me perhaps? 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

I changed a couple of months ago the disk brakes and pedals at the local LR dealership

Did this start after that?

I assume that changing the pedals involved undoing brake lines? changing disks shouldn't but some prefer to crack the bleed nipple on the caliper which may allow air in.

Air in ABS controller (or somewhere else) would be my guess but I'm far from an expert 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

Seen some more threads about this on the Jaguar & Fiat forums.

Most are saying is from the battery (low voltage). I'd like to mention that the car has a hard start when very cold outside & if stood over night.

I'll most likely change the battery soon.

Any update on the fault and how you fixed it?

I get the same error "EBD Fault" (very short message) and then the brake lights don't work anymore. Replaced twice a burned fuse in the glove compartment but now it happened third time.
