Tough decision but keep the one that serves you while costing you the least to maintain?

Defender will go up in value but costly to to run VED fuel Etc

FL2 will depreciate but cheaper to run. Both easy to maintain depends how much annual milage you do? 2013 FL2 XS.

Well one is an appreciating asset, well more likely so than the other, so sell the Freelander 2. Sacrilege on this site I know, but still a Land Rover.

No brainer. Keep the Defender.
Not the most practical day to day driver out of the two, or the most frugal, comfortable, quiet etc but it's appreciating in price as the Freelander is depreciating.
Sell the Freelander. Then, in a few years time, sell the Defender for stupid money and pick up a "bargain" Freelander. That way, it's a win, win.

Yes . The practicality of the Freelander wins out. It is such a brilliant all rounder.
It is good enough off road for most of the places I go and will wade through floods as deep as the Defender will
It's great for long journeys , quiet comfortable and can carry more luggage

Thanks for the thoughts - and please get in touch if you know anybody who wants a good quality Defender. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

Would love the Defender but sadly it’s not ULEZ compliant and I’ll be having to sell my own Freelander with the zone being extended next year

How much have you advertised the Defender for and how many miles has it done?
Purely for market research, much as I'd love it I'm not in a position to buy it! Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Good luck with the sale sounds like a cracking example. Don't think I'd want to part with it. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
