This system uses a variable displacement pump. It needs bleeding with the engine off, not running like full flow pumps.

So I tried to bleed the air out manually and seems to be getting bit better. But had a look at the new fitted reservoir and its splashing out fluid through the filter from the return line which creates bubbles. it that a normal operation process for the reservoir ? Could it be a faulty reservoir ? Still waiting for the power steering vacuum bleeder kit from America. The fluid looks a bit low top it up a bit see what it does then but it could be a that somewhere one of the pipes is sucking in air ?

I kept my PAS fluid topped up a little more than that but never saw much movement in the fluid. I know the filter wasn’t blocked because I’d fitted a new reservoir. I agree that air is being pushed into the reservoir so your going to have to look at the supply to the pump. If the leak was in the pump outlet you’d have PAS fluid on the floor. |

Have you got the old reservoir to put back on as a check. Could be air getting into the system but it looks to me like there is something wrong with the new reservoir |

I agree, as when I cut open my old reservoir the filter mesh was consistent all the way around other than the support frame. I wouldn’t expect to see bubbles in a consistent stream. I still think that the pump is sucking in air, which is compressible and pumping that to the rack and back to the reservoir. |
