A question on how long till the car starts! | |
Hi folks,
A question if I could on starting our cars.
I have a MY14 150bhp Td4 manual with DPF and stop start
Two stage start, push start button then about 4 to 6 revolutions of the engine before it fires up, no matter if the temperature is hot or cold! The car has been like this since I have owned it, so over three years.
Must say car runs fine, no smoke at all on start up or any other time when driving.
A few things I have looked at,
I have looked at the fuel lines for evidence of air but there is none also there is no evidence of any leaks from the fuel rail etc.
The car has been fitted with the second earth strap from the factory.
The throttle body shuts down as it should with no abnormal noises etc.
I Hooked the car up to my Icarsoft LR V2.0 and there are no stored or current fault codes.
The cars fuel filter was changed about 4000 miles ago with a genuine fuel filter. And I have changed the battery to a Yuassa AGM and also reset the BMS.
The reason I ask is that I have a 2012 Diesel Fiat Doblo 1.3 multijet van that starts on the turn of the key (even with one faulty glow plug) and my next door neighbour has an ancient BMW X5 that has a millage that actually could of took him to the moon! And again his car starts straight away!
So, the question is this, is this normal, a few revolutions on the engine before it starts up or have I the start of a failing sensor, not sure if a fault with the crank shaft sensor would cause this as there is also sometimes a hesitancy when pulling away from lights etc,
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Cheers
