I bought a cheap Code Reader in Ldil store, but I am sure others will recommend better ones.

Good news, the code reader has arrived and...there are no error codes. The plot thickens!

I am no expert on 'deep code' reading, but when I first got mine, I found that I had to leave it plugged in for a few minutes before it was ready to reveal any codes to me, and even then I had to search around a bit, and scroll down, to find the PENDING error codes.

Did you buy a generic OBD reader or a reader with full Land Rover specific diagnostics? A standard OBD reader will read engine management (emissions) related faults and not much else - £50. Slightly more expensive DIY readers will read some common stuff, such as airbags and ABS but will not drill down to LR specific modules such as the parking system - £100. LR specific readers can interrogate the vast majority of modules on the Freelander 2 as it has been around for a while. They won't communicate above ODB level with newer cars, even when you have spent £500 on them Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner |
