New user here, thanks to all the posts for help in fixing so far...corroded boot release catch, continuously blowing light bulbs, drivers side door lock. LR's famous electrics...

Current problem that has me stumped, hoping someone may be able to help.

My parking sensors have stopped working all of a sudden and when in reverse my car now thinks it has a camera...

Reading through other posts I've tried to narrow down the problem and can report the following.

1. I have not washed the car recently/took the car through water so I don't believe it to be water damage.
2. I have checked the fuse and replaced it but no luck.
3. I have swapped over each sensor, front to rear, cleaning as I go to see if one is a 'duff' but that didn't seem to help.
4. Disconnected the battery for a few days when I went away to try and 'hard reset' but no luck.
5. The wires going to each front and rear sensors don't seem to be obviously damaged/frayed/rubbing etc.

Clues:
1. With the above in mind and knowing my particular FR2 and all its faults, I think it is probably an electrical problem rather than a mechanical one. (Sensors/wires not obviously damaged. No 'trauma' to the veh, just stopped working).
2. When I place the car into reverse, the parking aid button on the central console flashes orange.
2. There is a high pitched long beep when I place the car into reverse which then stops as I move.
3. Most strangely, and i'm hoping this may be a clue to someone, the car comes up with the message 'Camera not available - seek dealer assistance'. Very weird as I've never had a camera on the car.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I can remove front and rear bumper quite happily myself, but electronics not my strong point. So any electrical advice please speak slowly...!

They are saying 'Parking Sensor' loom damage, try moving the loom around and away from any sharp edges.
Easing the wires of the loom away from each other may also help, in case 2 are touching out of sight, you may have to unwrap and free any bends.

Haven't checked the error codes as I don't have a reader. Is there a diagnostics menu I can access or is it a case of getting on ebay and buying a code reader/popping down to local friendly garage with a pack of chocolate biscuits?

I bought a cheap Code Reader in Ldil store, but I am sure others will recommend better ones.

Good news, the code reader has arrived and...there are no error codes. The plot thickens!

Ref. your above post on the parking sensor loom damage on the 'Disco forum', in very simplistic terms, does that mean literally just move the wires so they're not touching the outer body work? Stick a bit of sponge/carboard/plastic etc in between the wire and bodywork so they're not touching?

I am no expert on 'deep code' reading, but when I first got mine, I found that I had to leave it plugged in for a few minutes before it was ready to reveal any codes to me, and even then I had to search around a bit, and scroll down, to find the PENDING error codes.

PS I am in the middle of discovering the fact that even after I, the AA, and the main dealer all found error codes relating to a duff turbo (actuator?), it apparently is now working and I cannot make a Warranty claim.

Did you buy a generic OBD reader or a reader with full Land Rover specific diagnostics?
A standard OBD reader will read engine management (emissions) related faults and not much else - £50.
Slightly more expensive DIY readers will read some common stuff, such as airbags and ABS but will not drill down to LR specific modules such as the parking system - £100.
LR specific readers can interrogate the vast majority of modules on the Freelander 2 as it has been around for a while. They won't communicate above ODB level with newer cars, even when you have spent £500 on them  Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
