Front Window Trim Rust

Hi All,

I've recently noticed this small patch of bubbling under the rubber window trim (see attached image), on both front windows. It's situated at the very front of the window next to the wing mirror.

Is this an easy place to treat for rust, please?

Thanks in advance.

P.s. the green glow is the reflection of the lawn and not algae buildup.

I've not seen that before, I wonder if the plastic
mirror mount trim has rubbed,

rust and green glass, defiantly series Land Rover ancestry. Wink DAVE.

Ah so more bunching up of the rubber rather than rust bubbles? Would make sense, it is the same both sides as the mirrors automatically fold in upon locking the car.

Does anybody know if this trim can be easily removed to confirm what's underneath, please? Freelander 2 XS 2013

Yes - I'd agree corrosion.

Had exactly the same with my Jeep Grand Cherokee (assuming I'm safe to swear and use the "J" word here Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter ) rust bubbles up on the surface of the inner steel pushing the rubber out exactly like that.

The only fix for that was to replace them. 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

Very common problem on Disco 3/4 and RRSport. There's no treatment, as the corrosion is under the rubber, so folk just buy new trims as they're very reasonably priced on D3 etc.

I looked into this for my FL2 as a couple are starting to bubble like this and was horrified to see they cost 3x the cost of a set of Disco ones! Big Cry Current driveway contents:

Haha just our luck. Big Cry I'm sure we're saving money elsewhere having a Freelander over a Disco. Rolling with laughter

You don't happen to know the part number for the new trim, please? All I can seem to find is the rubber seal for inside the door. Freelander 2 XS 2013

I believe* Front Left (NS) is LR001688 and Front Right (OS) is LR001687 based on what I'm seeing in Microcat

https://new.lrcat.com/#!/12111/60179/60966/4937/60974

Note you will need to copy/paste the whole string as this forum software doesn't recognise anything after a " # " as a valid URL component.

You'll also need a couple of LR002227 as the original screws will probably be past their prime. Current driveway contents:

Thanks @NoDo$h, that's greatly appreciated.

I initially had a look on the MicroCat but wasn't able to find anything relating to the part in question, just the rubber seal for around the door. Freelander 2 XS 2013
