I would think that would involve the cost of removing that loom, the cost of the loom, time taken to find the fault and the skill of the technician, all of which add up at £100/hr or more plus VAT my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Ever priced up replacing the audio loom on an L322 over a single corroded wire?  Current driveway contents:

It was quite simply the labour rate that was extortionate the raipair didn't take long to diagnose and fix
And although I am not looking forward to any more bills I do know of many disco 3 and 4 broken wires causing problems so it's not uncommon
I fixed a broken wire in the loom for the parking sensors on my last freelander no reason why it broke at all not near a mount point or under great stress and all the other wires in that part of the loom were fine very strange

Yes misinformation is not good, they need to be more honest regarding EVs.

When the fossil fuel industry is behind all the anti EV BS, it's going to be difficult to get honest information.

I don't think it is an easy task totting up just how green/sustainable something as complex as a car actually is.
You can always ask of a component "and where does that come, or how did it get from A to B".

If you look at the big picture then anything inorganic that is dug out of the ground is not sustainable. So unless you can 100% recycle a car or make it from bamboo they will never be sustainable. And then you have to consider energy sources and what are those energy sourcing machines made from.

At best we can hope to slow the escalating consumption of resources and increasing pollution of the planet but buying a BEV is like urinating into a hurricane. Jules

Potential tyre tax to be introduced!

Just when you thought you had done the right thing and invested large amounts of money into either purchasing or leasing EV some bright spark (excuse the pun) has thought about taxing vehicles on tyre wear
Government are currently involving private firm to research this option.
As we know EVs are heavier so logically will create more wear on tyres!!
This will become the second biggest pollutant after single use plastics.

Ironically people have been lured into the belief that emissions are the big issue but as this shows its not.

Hmm Another tax to look forward to in 3 years time when my current tyres are likely to need replacement.

But having said that, tyres are terrible pollutants - needing lots of energy in manufacture, constantly shedding a cocktail of toxic chemicals into the environment during use, and their final disposal is problematic; not infrequently results in fly-tipping.
So a tax designed to address these issues is best added at initial purchase. Whether it would address anything is open to question though. Jules
