2007 FL2 Petrol i6, Ford engine

Recently developed a lack of acceleration when required, usually at low speed or from almost standstill. This is intermittent.
Have taken vehicle to garage but fault did not occur when they took it for a test drive. They did not offer any suggestions. Of course the fault reappeared on the way home and is still there.

EVP,

The Variable Valve Lift Solenoid can cause the type of problem that you are experiencing

The low Valve lift is 3.2 mm and the high lift is 10.0 mm (if it doesn't switch then you will be limited to about 80 Horsepower)

The part number for the Solenoid is

LR025967 (there are two of them and the left one may require that you lift the engine and disconnect the motor mount bracket)

There are other possibilities but the Variable Valve Lift is a know failure point

Wales 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Mauritius Blue

It was built by Ford thou, at the now closed Bridgend engine plant. Andrew

It depends on how you look at the world.

- Did FORD design the engine NO

- Did FORD test the engine for durability LIKELY NOT

- Are engine parts shared with other FORDs NO

- Did the Team at the FORD Engine plant review the design for manufacturability LIKELY YES

- Did FORD build the Engine YES

PS Think about the iPhone, its American right? But where is is made?
For what its worth I really like the fact that my engines: 2010 Volvo 3.2 and 2008 LR2 3.2 were both made in the UK.
Remind me where do they design and build the Formula 1 cars?
I can't remember but wherever it is they must know how build things.

Many thanks for the replies.
Has now had diagnostics check. 33 faults were logged in total
The Engine control faults were:
PO193 Fuel rail pressure sensor. Malfunction
P061B internal control torque module. Signal plausibility not OK. This fault appeared twice.

Most of the other faults were things like door clocks, central locking, sat nav etc.

Fault memory cleared and circuits were checked.

Have been driving the vehicle and fault is still occurring occasionally.
No warning lights displayed on dash.

Does this give any useful clues about my Ford/Volvo engine problem?

Note: I bought the sender for my LR2 and I was planning on replacing it preventatively but it failed on my 2010 Volvo first and my 2008 LR2 still has the original part.

I did buy another one from BOSCH for my LR2


And in case you were wondering I replaced the sender almost a year ago and the fault code has never returned

PS if you look closely at my Volvo post you will see that I upgraded the fastener. I did this because the original Torx fastener is a pain to remove


PPS When I got the code I didn't notice the drivability issues. Maybe my son was driving it or maybe it was intermittent and I had a device that was connected to the ODB2 port that would let me know if there was a problem.
