I am 69 pay just under £200 though still working part time 2 or 3 days every other week as a HGV Driving Instructor but I have had enough of driving and if I stop working altogether would not bother me if I never drove again, 40 years driving Trucks not a road in the Country I have not been on ! Too many nutters on the road too much aggression and impatience . I walk to the shops and quite happy not to drive anywher so I might have a Mint TD4 up for sale soon ??? 2013 FL2 XS.

Thanks for answering, I did wonder why your insurance cost is so low. |

Article below suggests older drivers are not very popular on the roads!

I recall my father's started to sky rocket after he reached 80, this even though had full no claims, no accidents, IAM certificates, ex police driving instructor. |

"For instance, it is known that younger drivers (aged 17-21) are three to four times more likely to be involved in accidents than elderly drivers." But it doesn't define "elderly". If say its 65 to 85 - then that's 5 times the age range for 17-21 drivers. So depending on how you look at it, the 17-21 group are actually 15 to 20 times more likely to involved in accidents. Isn't it time there were more limits on this dangerous group of drivers. Some countries do; like no driving between certain times, zero alcohol/drug tolerance. Jules |

I've just passed 80 and my insurance (Saga Fully Comp+) is £678 pa. 20+ years of No Claims. (3 year Medically Tested Driving Licence) The good news is that I can still get a LR Courtesy Car until I'm 85. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011) FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015) Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History (Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?) |
