HIGH LEVEL BRAKE LIGHT

Hi, has anyone considered trying to source an led equivalent unit to replace the original.

I simply replaced the incandescent lamp with an LED. There is already a light pipe to spread the light from the point source of the filament so that works for LED’s too.
I bought these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143847676967

Red lens, white lens. The incandescent lamp in the white HLBL lens that I fitted to replace the original red HLBL is a plain ordinary clear lamp so why do you need a red LED?

sorry, was understanding you would need red bulb in clear lens. Obviously not so.

If the brake light complies with an incandescent bulb, why replace it? Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Can’t see the point point of messing about with these LED bulbs and the problems that crop up on system that isn’t designed for them

I replaced the std bulb with led and thought nothing more about it — UNTIL — the locking on the tailgate stoped working. It kept unlatching every time I applied the brakes. Put the std bulb back in and it’s back to normal!

Strange! That didn’t happen when I fitted an LED in my high level brake light.

LED in mine, no issues.

Make sure the LEDs are CANBUS error free models everywhere on the vehicle.
