I had the PTC heater recall performed a few days ago here in Spain and subsequently noticed the difficulty that others have reported with the auto gear selector and restricted movement with the gear selector release button.
I will be ringing the dealer after the weekend, but did anyone find out just what causes the problem ? I didn't realize that the heater unit was in the same region as the gear selector. 2007 FL2 SE Diesel Auto

heater unit is forward of the gear stick , the center console is removed to access the heater and it seems the electrics to the gearbox are not always properly reconnected when refitting causing your cars symptoms. At work

Took it into the dealership this morning and the problem was rectified in 15 minutes.
