Are you referring to the propshaft there?

I'm tempted to give it a shot. I'm fairly certain that the splines have gone so I'm tempted to get a PTU in, ready to do the change over in one go.

So if I order the following, can you think of anything else...

a PTU refurbished with new splines and larger bearing.
Oil
Sleeve - LR002746
Drive shaft seal - LR002906

Is there anything else that I'm likely to need? Ideally I want to spend a day on it during next week.

I think I can picture how it all goes together now.

Looks like a good shopping list - can't vouch for the part numbers, fairly sure whoever sells you the PTU (Bell?) will also sell you the PTU oil somewhat cheaper than LR.
Yes don't remove the propshaft, just disconnect from the PTU and pull it towards the rear.

Catch the oil (cup full?) as it comes out of the transmission, measure it and put the same amount of new oil back into the transmission. You could mess about running the engine warming up the transmission, and checking the oil level topping up and re-checking - you could, Censored sure that I didn't. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

I guess the only danger there is presuming the right amount was in to start with?

I take it that the same PTU is used for autos and manuals as they don't seem to be listed separately.

My part numbers are incorrect above, week the sleeve is anyway - that is the one for an autobox!

I presume the drive shaft seal is the same for both but can't guarantee. Are there any parts diagrams available with numbers?

Surely if you speak to Bell Engineering, they will be able to either supply everything you need, or give the correct part numbers needed.

You might be able to find the part numbers you need here?

There are quite a few seals to change and a good place to find the part numbers is partslink24 website. You can put your vehicle Vin in and it will give you all the correct part numbers for your car. You do have to pay , but you can have access for a day for £10. Its very good because it shows your exact car and you can even see what spec and what extras your car came with
