There are updates available from here:

https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/land-rover-f...-197-p.asp

£24.99

I updated mine a year or so ago, but it doesn't really cover all the changes over the last three years.
Afraid it's the best you can get though.
No issues when loading the new disk.

I bought an update from this guy a few years ago but it didn’t load properly - I was aware it could take 3-4 hours and since I’ve no facility at home to keep the car ‘live’ for that long I saved it until we travelled to Wales. Called him up when we arrived as it clearly hadn’t uploaded properly. Said he’d investigate and reported back that I’d need to upload a separate stick for Turkey?? which he sent. Uploaded that and it’s worked without any problems since. Put this all down to a glitch in the upload; couldn't fault customer service at all, first rate.

Just bought a disc for my 2012, put it in and zilch happened. Apparently it is just a map disc.Does anybody know the last year the system was updated before going HDD in 2013? The guy I bought it off from eBay has been very unhelpful.

Your 2013 will most probably require the Gen2.1 update available here https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/land-rover-g...706-p.asp. This is the USB system rather than the DVD (under the driver's seat system) an update to the DVD system is also available from the same source.

There was a system software upgrade for the DVD based system in about 2010 or 2011 which will automatically update if required, I assume that your 2012 vehicle uses the DVD system (under the drivers seat).

There are a few threads in the "in car electronics" section on upgrades/updates and when they happened, please use the search function. Also please remember that LR have not sanctioned a DVD update for a number of years so suppliers have been reusing other vehicle manufactures software and rebadging it - it works so why worry.

I assume your 2013 FL2 requires the Gen2.1 USB update

https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/land-rover-g...-706-p.asp

But its £90 though. Shocked

I just use the original one in my 2014 - the vast majority of UK roads haven't changed for decades if not hundreds of years.
Failing that just use Google maps or OSMAnd on my android phone.

OSMAnd worked great in OZ and NZ. I use it regularly when hill walking and cycling too. Jules

I updated my sat nav last year with the genuine map's £169 I could of gone for map's from the sat nav shop for £100ish but are you getting the latest up to date map's....who knows. The new update map has worked well for me and a lot better than using your phone which can and has lost the signal when you need it most. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

I normally use Waze, as it can be good for warning about hazards on the road such as broken down
vehicles on blind bends.

My 2013 Gen2.1 has the latest maps, but it does not give you any traffic information, apart
from finding another route, and a coloured traffic indicator icon.
