Indy services will be every bit as good, if not better than LR.

๐ I've emailed the main dealer earlier today for exactly that. Unfortunately not able to find a wind swept moor for a suitably atmospheric shot in daylight just yet so here's a murky one in the car park.

My MY10 car (November 2009/59 plate) had a service book - whether its service history was recorded online as well, I donโt know but my current MY13 car has no service book. For the first time since new, I went to an indy for its Year 8 service - the indy updated the online service history and when viewed, the only difference between his entry and the previous main dealer entries is the little green oval logo is missing on the indy's entry. |

To be honest I aggree with Jules I dont think JLR servicing is up to much, I think they take your money for not doing very much I now give it to our HGV Mechanic I can watch him do it and I know its ALL been done. 2013 FL2 XS.

Thanks for the replies once again. I'm unsure as to what exactly had been done to it in the past. There is a service book full of stamps but no other paperwork/invoices etc. I'm still waiting to hear back from the main dealer and will be getting in touch with the two indy garages that did the last three services. As I said before I'm not particularly mechanically minded, the 2 stroke on my BSA Bantam was about my limit, but the engine feels and sounds as if it's running really well. Would any issues caused by low mileage be detectable? Cheers Dave. |

Any engine that was/is used for short journeys will not reach full working temperature a tell tale sign is "mayonaise" under the oil filler cap and in the rockerbox on top of the engine, also indicative of infrequent oil changes, if the oil is clean then that is a good sign its been changed regularly. 2013 FL2 XS.

Thanks Rommel. Don't think I'm going to know for sure until it's had its check up next week but just had a quick look and the oil filler pipe is so clean it could almost be new (which worries me). I'll stick a picture up tomorrow. |

I wouldn't stress too much about it. Fix any niggles if and when they occur. You have bought a very clean very low mileage car which should give you many years of service. I wish mine was back at 25k miles again but having said that at 86k it still feels every bit as good as when I bought it at 17k. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

You could send an oil sample out for analysis, that should show anything like serious bearing wear. You'd need used oil for that, ideally at the time of oil change and you'd want to know the mileage on the oil being sampled. |
