I replaced my tail gate switch, from recollection, the LR dealer part was quite reasonably priced. My symptom however was the remote would open the tailgate, not the physical switch and, when operating the vehicle the tailgate could actually delay open as well as flash the message during operation. Changing the switch solved everything. The replacement switch was an upgraded design to avoid the aluminum part of the switch from corroding. |

Yes corroded in side then a short and off goes the alarm change the switch it’s easy to do. |

Yes, the boot/hood switch will trigger the alarm at random while parked, I replaced mine several years ago been fine ever since Easy to replace, but it's not a very robust part so may have to do it again eventually.
