Replacement Intercooler

Hi Folks. So I think Phoebe has a leaking intercooler, at least it is damp with oil where the end tank meets the core. I have seen that there are OE spec intercoolers out there, but they have the same plastic end tanks.

Does anyone know of an all alloy version of this intercooler?

I have also read that some of the Ford Focus ST intercoolers are a direct replacement, is this true and if so which one?

Any advice or experiences greatly appreciated. Thumbs Up

Check your hoses first, as a split one will often give the impression the intercooler is split. Not saying it isn’t but hoses will be a bit cheaper I imagine. All alloy aftermarket ones are available & have been known to fail as well. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Many thanks for the response. It was on replacing the hoses that I noticed the oily mess in the corner of the intercooler.

I have swapped mine also because it had poped the ends
I got an oem one too and so far it's been fine
Make sure you get the right one as some have a hole for a pressure sensor and some don't otherwise they are the same

Personally, If/when I change mine I would
still fit original, at 13/14 years of age, I would reckon
it's lasted well.
Unless of course you're looking to up grade the system
for more power. DAVE.
