Never heard of a broken crank on a Freelander 2. Of the 2, the Discovery 4 would be the one you'd expect that sort of problem with.

I guess the question of a dealer buying it is going to hinge on what you realistically expect to get for the car.

Had done 106,000 miles, full LR servicing, just unlucky. You to see you a lot on D3 forum NoDo$h, when I had a couple of D3's. |

Providing there is no damage to the pistons or valves the changing of one camshaft should be reasonably cheap, in theory not much more than a cambelt change, even if the head is removed to inspect both the pistons and head. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The D3s have long gone, as have the Defenders as our needs have changed over time. The family transport is now a Volvo V60 Cross Country while my daily driver is a Merc C300 Coupe. I'll likely be over here a little more as I'm about to replace the 3rd car in the drive (Freelander 1 aka the Dog Bus) with a Freelander 2. Nothing new or shiny, just a good honest FL2 for some light towing, to get me onto shoots without getting stuck and to sling wet dogs into. Current driveway contents: 2021 V60 Cross Country B5 2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid. |

That makes more sense. Several threads on here about it. May well be repairable. Jules |

Which one? It has two. One is driven by the cambelt, the other by a chain from the first one. Jules |

I'd buy it for the right price. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

2011 HSE retails @ about £10K so trade £7.5 to £8K less repair cost say £2.5 to £3k so if you are lucky you may get £5.5K, a private sale could get you £6 to £7k if the buyer knows what he's doing and checks out the car and repair costs are about £1K plus his free labour as it's for him and not a trader. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
