This is from someone who thinks 50,000 miles a year is "average" and my idea of a 50th birthday outing was to drive to Morocco for a play in the Sahara. TBH this style of guard doesn't really "guard" much of the sump ! I bought an original Mantec one when I first had my Freelander 2. Personally, I'd spend a little more and buy one one of Warren's (www.muddymods.com) later style guards that actually does protect the sump and gearbox.
